At Loft & Bean, the client’s ambition brought together efficient coffee service and comfortable places to pause, meet and spend time. The building offered tall glazing and generous proportions, alongside substantial columns and changes in floor level that complicated movement between the counter and seating. Making these different areas feel intuitive and connected became the key to creating a welcoming café within the large architectural volume.
We gave the service area a clear presence with a bespoke timber-fronted counter, rounded terrazzo top and integrated pastry display. Elevated seating overlooks the activity below, with glazed balustrades maintaining views between levels. Olive banquettes, timber tables and dark chairs introduce warmth against pale mineral surfaces and rust-toned columns. Behind the counter, green glazed tiles and open shelving form a textured setting for coffee equipment, cups and retail products. Globe pendants and discreet track lighting bring the scale closer to the customer, while planting softens the architecture. The completed café makes its changes in level part of the experience, offering varied places to sit within an open, sociable interior.
