A calm neighbourhood venue, equally welcoming for a brief visit or a leisurely meal, was the starting point for The Olive Tree. Its compact proportions meant that every element needed to earn its place, from the seating and circulation to the working bar. Full-height glazing offered valuable daylight and a close connection to the street, yet the interior still needed a sense of shelter. Richness would come through texture and detail, with a restrained composition allowing the modest space to remain visually open.

We placed a continuous bespoke banquette along one wall, pairing it with individual tables and lightweight chairs that preserve views towards the windows. A stone-fronted bar anchors the rear, where illuminated shelving adds depth and a warm focal point. Olive upholstery, dark green veined stone and charcoal surfaces establish the palette, balanced by timber furniture and pale terrazzo flooring. The banquette’s tall, channelled back brings comfort and enclosure, while timber ceiling elements introduce rhythm overhead. Small brass lamps, textured artwork and olive foliage complete the setting. Efficient planning gives the room an easy, unhurried quality, allowing tactile materials and thoughtful details to bring a quiet sense of care to everyday hospitality.
